My Favorite Meal

i dipped my tongue into salty, sweet, buttered bread
then ran it across my lips for savor
i smelled the crust and cream and took a bite
then i sampled the soup
it was a fiesta of color and cayenne that made me sweat
each spoonful a climax of scent
each bite a masterpiece of intensity and sin
i hungered for more and could not resist
dipping the bread into the soup
just a little at first
a taste
a flick of the tongue to test the flavor and heat
the butter melted and a drop fell into the soup
my restraint snapped and i devoured it all
it was delicious
